Weekend Sessions

I played three sessions on Party Poker this weekend. On Friday night I only played 79 hands and ended up losing $6.75. I only won one hand about midway through the session and made one really lousy decision at the end of the session. I won $2.82 with a pair of Kings. Then at the end of the session I lost quite a bit with a pair of Queens. I should have folded my Queens when I saw the Ace on the flop. After that stupid play I needed to quit before losing more money.

On Saturday I play another 121 hands on Party Poker and managed to win $3.60. I was down a couple of bucks early in the session when I lost with three kings to a full house. Then I lost another couple of dollars a little later with a pair of Aces to a rivered straight.

About midway through the session things started to turn around and I was able to string together several winning hands. The hand that started it off was a pair of Queens. Then I flopped a straight a few hands later and won $3.75. After winning that hand I was only down $0.86. Just 5 hands later I won almost $3.00 with a second pair of Aces and was up $1.06. A little bit later I attempted to steal the blinds with T3s from the small blind, but got called by the BB and ended up winning the hand with two pair (4s and 3s).

Near the end of the session I won my biggest pot ever with four of a kind. I was dealt a pair of threes in middle position and was hoping to get another three on the flop. Both threes hit on the flop long with a six. The river was another six and I was hoping at least one of my opponents had made a full house and was not playing a pair of sixes. Sure enough both of my opponents had a full house and I won $6.67. After that hand I was up over $5.00.

At the end of Saturday's session I lost $1.50 with a pair of Jacks. The flop was 2c, 5s, & 6h. I bet and was reraised on the flop. The turn was a 4, I checked and then called. The river was an Ace, I bet and then called a raise and my opponent showed 63s for a straight. I had a feeling he might have had a 3 when he bet the turn and I should have folded my Jacks there, but I wanted to see that I was beaten. I have to learn to fold when I am pretty sure I am beaten. Maybe I should have reraised on the flop, but I doubt that would have made my opponent fold his hand.

On Sunday I only needed to play 20 raked hands to release the $25.00 sign up bonus from Party Poker. I ended up losing $3.63 after playing 75 hands. I won only two of those hands, the first one after I was dealt AQ and flopped a Queen and won the hand on the flop. The second hand I won I was dealt a pair of Tens and river a third Ten for three of a kind. Even though I won the $3.22 on that hand it was still not enough to get me back to even and I ended up losing most of it on two hands late in the session. I don't think I played either of those two hand horribly, just got unlucky. The first time I had the hand won going into the river but my opponent made his straight on river to beat out my two queens. The second hand I lost with two pair on the board to a better kicker. I was dealt Q4s in the BB and checked to see the flop which was 8s, 2d & 2h. Everyone checked through to the river which was another 8, I bet and only one person called holding A7o.

I was pretty impressed with how quickly the bonus was released on Party Poker, once I played my 500th raked hand the money was credited to my account instantly. That was pretty cool. My experience with Party Poker and Instant Bankroll has been excellent. Instant Bankroll is a great way to get started playing on Party Poker.

Freeroll Tourney on Party Poker

Last night I played in the $5000 New Players Freeroll on Party Poker. I finished 131st out of almost 2600 entrants and won $4.50. If I had played more aggressively I might have finished better. I played very tight for the most part. At the end of the first hour, I had a slightly above average chip stack. At the beginning of the second hour, the guy right in front of me started going all-in on every single hand and he made quite a killling because nobody was willing to stop him. I think he managed to win about 2000 chips this way until someone decided to go all-in before him and put a stop to it. I never really had anything that I could challenge him with, except pocket 9s, but I folded those because it was too early in the tournament to risk leaving empty handed.

I knew going in that I wouldn't win the whole tournament, my goal though was to at least get in the money and I almost didn't make it. A few hands before this one a guy at our table left in 238th place (only the top 220 places paid). The blinds were up to 300/600 when I was dealt QJo under the gun with only 448 chips left. I decided if I was going to go out of the tournament out of the money I would do it to myself and not be forced to put my all chips in on the next hand. I went all-in and only the button and the BB stayed in. The flop was 575, the turn was a K and the river was a J. I thought for sure going in I was going to be eliminated, but the river card helped me out. After winning that hand I had 1644 chips, but 900 of went to the blinds on the next two hands. My plan then was to fold again until the blinds came back around to me and hopefully by then I would be in the money.

Then a few hands later I was dealt AQo with 744 chips left and was guaranteed $3.50 at that point. I went all-in again and ended up winning 2832 chips when the turned completed the Ace high straight. Again my plan was to fold my way up the next level and go all-in with decent hands. With the blind at 400/800 and only 632 chips left I went all-in with 99 and ended up winning with two pair, nines and dueces.

With the blinds at 500/1000 and only 1028 chips left I went all-in with K6 suited and flopped KK6 for the full house. What a dream flop. I ended up winning 3556 chips on that hand. Then a few hands later, I went all-in with QQ against AK, a K hit on the flop and my tournament was over. I only needed to outlast 11 more people to make it to the next level and I might have made it if I had folded the queens, but I was pretty happy with what I had.

I know that I was extremely lucky last night to hit all those cards, but I had alot of fun and I won more money than I expected.

A Rare Tuesday Night Session

I broke my Tuesday night rule last night and played a short session on Royal Vegas. Until last night I had only played 3 sessions on Tuesday and I had lost all three of them. So after the last one I swore off playing on Tuesday night. Last night I sat down at the computer and fired up Royal Vegas and watched a few hands and then put my name on the waiting list. After about 30-40 minutes, a seat opened up and I took it. I only stuck around for an hour and played 47 hands.

This is the only pot I won:
** Short Life Milk [Hold 'em] (0.050.10 Fixed Limit - Cash Game) Real Money

** Dealing card to MrBigStuff25: King of Diamonds, Ace of Clubs
MrBigStuff25 raised,
UTG+1 folded, UTG+2 folded, MP1 folded, MP2 raised, MP3 called, CO folded, Button folded, SB folded, BB folded, MrBigStuff25 called

** Dealing the flop: 10 of Diamonds, 5 of Diamonds, King of Hearts (10.5 SB, 3 players)
MrBigStuff25 bet, MP2 called, MP3 called, MrBigStuff25 called

** Dealing the turn: 5 of Clubs (8.25 BB, 3 players)
MrBigStuff25 bet, MP1 raised, MP2 called, MrBigStuff25 called

** Dealing the river: 4 of Spades (14.25 SB, 3 players)
MrBigStuff25 checked,
MP1 checked, MP2 bet, MrBigStuff25 called, MP1 raised, MP2 called, MrBigStuff25 called

Result:
MP1 shows: Ace of Hearts, 7 of Spades
MP2 mucks: King of Clubs, 2 of Clubs
MrBigStuff25 wins 20.25 BB

MP1 nearly succeeded in bluffing me off this hand with his check raise on the river. I am glad I stuck with it. I would not have been happy if I had folded and seen MP2 win with a pair of Kings. I think I got very lucky here. MP1 gave me every reason to believe he had me beat but I just wasn't buying it for some odd reason.

I think I should have folded this one on the flop, but since I didn't I know I should have checked and folded on the turn. The bet on the turn was not a smart move.
** Short Life Milk [Hold 'em] (0.050.10 Fixed Limit - Cash Game) Real Money

** Dealing card to MrBigStuff25: King of Clubs, Jack of Clubs
UTG folded, UTG+1 folded, UTG+2 called, MP1 folded, MP2 called, MP3 called, CO folded, Button folded, MrBigStuff25 raised, BB called, UTG+2 called, MP2 called, MP3 called

** Dealing the flop: Ace of Spades, 7 of Clubs, 7 of Spades (10 SB, 5 players)
MrBigStuff25 bet,
BB folded, UTG+2 called, MP2 called, MP3 folded

** Dealing the turn: Ace of Diamonds (6.5 BB, 3 players)
MrBigStuff25 bet,
UTG+2 raised, MP2 folded, MrBigStuff25 folded

UTG+2 mucks:
UTG+2 wins 9.5 BB

I ended the session up $0.57

Killer Mistakes

I played another session on Party Poker on Sunday and my luck did not improve. I waited patiently for good starting hands, but I just couldn't manage to get ahead. I think I am going to try using the Loose Game starting hand chart from Small Stakes Hold'em during my next session. Maybe loosen up a little will help. I really need to focus on learning how to play after the flop. I don't know how much of my losses are because I am playing poorly or bad players are getting lucky.

My first big loss came when I was dealt Pocket Queens in middle position and the flop was 8h, Ad & Tc. I made the mistake of thinking I had the best hand on the flop and didn't consider the possibility that someone might have an ace. I think I should have check this hand on both the turn and the river. How not to play middle pair.

Then a few hands later I managed to really do some damage to my bank roll when I made a Queen high flush on the flop and did not surrender my sorry hand to the real flush. I would have been much better off folding on the turn. How not to play the non-nut flush.

I did not play all of my hands poorly, but some hands are so good it is tough to lose with them. I picked up Aces on the button and raised it up. The flop was Q98 rainbow a player in front of me bet and I raised and both players called my raise. The turn was another Ace, it was checked around to me, I bet and only had one caller. The river was a 3, my opponent check, I bet and he called. I ended up winning $3.07 on that hand. My opponent had KK. Checking the turn might have gotten him to bet and call on the river, but I had now way of knowing he had Kings because he only called with them preflop. Getting paid with Pocket Aces.

Then I got TT and was sucked out on the river by a very loose player. She also went on to win the next hand with 42o. I can't take the blame for this one.

Later when I won a $3.45 pot with a straight, I was thinking I might be able to recover from my earlier mistakes. Then I made a very stupid play on the next hand from the SB. I very foolishly believed I had the best and with two pair with an ace kicker, unfortunately neither of the paired cards matched my other starting card.

Then a bit later, I was dealt pocket Aces and was done in by a lousy T on the turn. I don't think I played this hand poorly and I don't know that I would have given it up if it had been raised on the turn. I probably would have checked the river after it was raised on the turn though, and I might have called a bet on the river.

Four hands later I was dealt Aces again! I ended up winning that one with the same hand I lost the previous Aces with. The next hand I was dealt Queens and ended up winning that one as well. Then a little bit later I won another pot without a showdown with AKo.

After that my run of good cards was over and I played about 50 more hands and only called with a few of them pre-flop and folded them when they missed on the flop. I ended up losing $7.12 during that session. Hopefully I can learn from the mistakes I made and dropping the hands that get me into trouble.

Poker Office

I downloaded the free trial of Poker Office yesterday and played a session using it last night. Despite all of the additional information I had on my opponents I still ended up losing. I lost $7.51 last night. I took a couple of pretty bad beats that really hurt me.

I managed to get up early when I was dealt QQ and then flopped two fours for top and bottom pair. I won on the flop after betting. Then the next hand I get TT, the flop was 699, the turn was a J and the river was a nines and I ended up losing to A9s. Ouch. I should not have raised on the river after both people bet and raised. They both had me beat.

This hand almost got me back to even for the night.
Full House

This was a lousy call on the river. I should have folded this when I did not get the 5. If I had gotten the 5 on the river then I would have been correct in calling. Missed draw

This was the last hand I played. I think my best move here would have been to bet and fold the river. Pocket Kings Flushed

Another Party Poker Session

I played another session on Party Poker last night. I played 50 hands and ended up winning $0.53 playing $0.15/$0.30 limit. I think if I had played longer I would have won more. I think I played pretty well. I was dealt some pretty good cards. After about 15 hands I was up $3.13 and then lost a few hands after winning with a set of threes, a set of fours and then a full house. I don't think I did anything really stupid when I lost those hands.

This is the first hand I won on Party Poker. I called with a pair of threes in middle position and flopped another three. Three Threes

The next hand I won was a split pot after we rivered a third 4 to make us both a three of a kind. I was dealt Q4o in the SB and checked after a few people called. The flop was 9A4, I checked, waiting for someone to bet so I could fold. Everyone else checked the flop and the turn card was a K. Again we all checked. The river was a 4, I bet, the guy to my left raised, everyone else folded, then I called and my opponent shows J4s.

The very next hand I get 98s in the SB and called after 4 others before me. The flop was 98A, I bet and got 2 callers. the turn was a 3, I bet again and 1 person folds. The river is a 9 and completes the full house. I don't know if I can get in a check raise here, so I bet and my opponent showed ATo. Full House

Then a few hands later I was dealt A6o in the BB and there were now raises when it got around to me, so I checked and the flop was 356. I bet on the flop and three people called. The turn was a duece and everyone checked. The river was a 9. I bet again and only one person called and showed 89, winning the hand on the river with a pair of nines. A pair of Sixes.

Then I was dealt QQ in middle position and ended up losing to a full house. Maybe I should have reraised on the flop, but that wouldn't have gotten her to lay down here 3 eights. It might have made her reraise and I would have to think twice about calling. I am hoping to play against her again, because if she keeps playing cards like that I can win back what I lost and probably more. Pocket Queens

First session at Party Poker

I dipped my toe in the water of Party Poker today. I played for about an hour and ended up losing $5.85. I sat down at the table with $30.00. I only saw the flop five times and did not win any hands. I made some really stupid calls.

Playing on Party Poker is a lot different than what I am used to at Royal Vegas. There are alot of features from Royal Vegas that I miss. It is going to take some time to get used to.

This hand was my first big loss and really stupid play. I didn't even see the flush possibility sitting out there.

If I had gotten the other black five on this hand at the river, things would have been much better.

I will give it another shot tonight before watching 'Lost'.

Instant Bankroll

On Friday I decided to take advantage of the Instant Bankroll promotion. Instant Bankroll will give you $75 free to start playing on Party Poker. After you have played 500 raked hands Party Poker gives you an additional $25. I signed up for the offer on Friday afternoon and then Tuesday morning I received an email from Instant Bankroll telling me to call there toll free number and once they verified my information $75 would be deposited to my Party Poker account. I called last night and had the free money in my account while I was still on the phone with them. The whole process went very smoothly.

I have also signed up for the affiliate program at Instant Bankroll, so if you decided to take advantage of their offer, please use my referral code: MrFreeze1125.

I am really looking forward to playing on Party Poker. I am going to start out at the begginer's tables playing .15/.30 limit. I have checked out the competition and it seems like there are a lot of loose players there.

Bad Decisions

I played a few more hands Friday night and Sunday afternoon on Royal Vegas. I made too many mistakes and ended up losing $2.39. I need to learn to listen to the voice inside my head that says I am beat and I should fold on the river. I called too many times on the river when I knew that I was beat.

This is one of the many mistakes I made Friday night. Check and folding on the river would have been a better move.

Won a little bit

I played a couple of sessions on Royal Vegas on Saturday and managed to win a little bit. I played 163 hands on Saturday and won a total of $0.48. I have tightened up my starting hand requirements even more at RV. I have been using the chart from Small Stakes Hold'em for tight games and I removed a few hands from it and it seems to have worked so far.

In the first session I won 6 hands out of the 91 I was dealt, but ended up only winning $0.04 for the session. Out of those six only two of them were won on the showdown, the other four were won on the flop of the turn. The biggest pot I won was $1.18 when I flopped the nut straight with a KQo from the SB. My opponent hand KK and got a third K on the river.

This is the had I lost the most on during that first session. I should not have called the bet on the river

Busting Out at Pacific

The $5.00 that Pacific gave me is now lining somebody elses pocket. I was down to $2.50 when I started playing Friday night. I did not win a single hand of the 82 I was dealt. There were some crazy players on there Friday night. On the hand that really hurt me, I was dealt AJs, the flop was AKx and there was a lot of raising going on. I called the raises because the pot was getting huge. The turn was another K and more raising followed. After all the raising on the river was finished the pot was over $5.00. My two pair ended up losing to three of a kind and the pot was split between two players each holding a K. That hand left me with $0.53 and I waited and waited for something to come along. Finally, when I was down to $0.25, I was dealt QQ and ended up going all-in on the flop, but I was beat out by Pocket Aces.

I should not have stay in that with two pair with all the craziness that was going on, but the size of the pot convinced me I need to stay in. If I had folded and found out that my Aces and Kings would have won, I'd be kicking myself for days.

I had fun playing at Pacific over the last week and a half and I am not too upset over busting out. I really didn't like the software at Pacific. It needs a lot of improvement, but I would play there again if I could get some more free money from Pacific Poker.

This weeks sessions on Pacific

I have played 6 sessions this week on Pacific. 3 of them were winning sessions but I am still down $0.25 for the week. After my third session, my bankroll was all the way down to $1.10, but I had two winning session after that and got it bank to almost $4.00. Today I played 35 hands and lost $1.42. I would have lost even more, had I not won $1.24 with a two pair (Kings and Queens) just before I ended the session.

I have noticed a couple of players at Pacific playing every hand they were dealt. I wish they would just transfer their funds to my account if they just want to get rid of their bankroll.

I am planning to play tonight on Pacific. I hope I do better tonight than I did last Friday. I am just going to be patient and wait for some really strong cards to come.

A bad weekend for the bankroll (Part 2)

On Saturday I played 44 hands on Pacific and lost $1.53. I didn't win any hands. The best hand I was dealt was a pair of Aces after the flop when I was dealt AKo and that was beaten by two pair of Queens and Tens.

On Sunday I played 119 more hands on Pacific and lost another $0.73. I won two of those hands. The biggest pot I won was $1.19 with a club flush after being dealt A3c.

While I was playing on Pacific on Sunday I was also playing on Royal Vegas and continued to drain the bankroll. I don't think I will be multi-tabling anymore, since I am not doing very well at it. I played 115 hands and lost $1.87. I guess I need to tighten up even more when playing at RV. I have been using the starting hand chart from Small Stakes Hold'em, but the players there are tougher to beat. I did win 6 hands there. The biggest pot I won was $0.84 when I was dealt 57o in the BB and flopped a straight. I lost with Pocket Aces again after my opponent turned a straight. I seriously considered folding them preflop because I was in the SB and there were already 6 callers before me. But after thinking about it all week I have decided that would have been a terrible mistake. If I had caught another Ace on the flop I probably would have won that hand. I did improve to two pair (Aces and Jacks) on the river.

A bad weekend for the bankroll (Part 1)

I played 5 sessions this weekend and was not able to record a single winning session. On Friday night I played a session on Pacific and a session on Royal Vegas. On Pacific, I played 114 hands and only managed to win one of them. I ended up losing $4.33 on Pacific. I played 155 hands on Royal Vegas and ended up losing $1.12. I was getting some pretty good cards on RV, but I was not able to win with them. I was dealt KK three times and never won with them and then I was dealt AA twice (two hands in a row) and only won the last one.

These are the three Pocket Kings hands that killed me.
